The Friends of the Library stock two bookcases at the main entrance of the library with gift-quality books, puzzles, DVDs, music CDs, and more.

The Friends of the Library accept donations of your high-quality used books. Your donation could be sold at the on-going book sale to raise funds which are 100% reinvested back into the Amherst Library to help enhance our programs and services, such as museum passes & concerts. Acceptable

• Hardcover and paperback books in great condition, including:

  • Fiction, mystery, science fiction

  • Biography and memoir

  • History

  • Cookbooks and food

  • Religion and philosophy

  • Sports and hobbies

  • Science and nature

  • All categories of children's and young adult books 

  • Commercially published media (e.g. DVDs, audiobooks, music CDs

Please Recycle

• Books with any type of damage including: broken bindings, missing pages, torn covers, soiled inside or on the cover, musty, moldy, smoke or water damage, or writing of any kind inside the cover or on the pages, highlighting or underlining in the text.
• Magazines (bound or unbound)
• Text books and, bibles and  business manuals
• Non-commercially produced CDs, DVDs, VHS and cassette tapes
• Reference material such as computer software manuals, dictionaries, medical journals, encyclopedias, travel guides
• Games System Games (PS3, PS4, Xbox, Wii etc)
